The Stage – Paul Vale, 13 August 2016
“Foiled is the perfect comedy, verging audaciously on farce. The characters are thoughtfully constructed and the script features some rather beautiful, intimate moments amid the mayhem.
Co-author Granville is hideously accurate as the chaotic boss Sabrina, dropping malapropisms at every turn yet remaining thoroughly believable. For all the madcap comedy, Stephanie Siadatan as Tanisha and Dominic Morgan as Richie find the truth in their respective characters and lend an astute sense of realism to the play.
As modest as the audiences might be for this new comedy, the production is eminently transferable and guaranteed to raise the profile of any host salon. Wholly satisfying site-specific light comedy, tightly scripted and perfectly cast.”
The Scotsman – Kate Copstick, 24 August 2016
“The company have gone feral and actually borrowed Clerk Street’s Ruby Rouge hairdressers in which to stage their production of a little comedy play set in a hairdressers. This is huge fun. Huge. There are three in the cast and they certainly give you the full cut, colour and style of entertainment.
The performances are wonderfully whole-hearted and, in the case of Tanesha and Richie, in amongst all the mayhem, properly believable. Serina’s performance has the hallmarks of an actress who has been given the comedy chicken to play with and is wringing its neck.
Go early to bag a seat for this fantastic, funny, close-up and entertaining Fringe experience.”
Three Weeks – Patricia-Ann Young, 15 August 2016
“‘Foiled’ is an all-singing, all-dancing insight into the secret lives of hairdressers. Set in a functioning hair salon on Clerk Street, the show is a bubbly burst of fun… the cast of characters bounce off each other beautifully in this hour of fast paced, laugh-a-minute comedy.”
The Scotsman – Brian Ferguson, 21 April 2016
“It can be a hair-raising experience competing for audiences with more than 3000 shows in Edinburgh in August. But one show already has a head start after launching an early claim as the quirkiest venue at this year’s Fringe. The theatre company behind new comedy Foiled is hoping that staging it in a working hair salon will leave it a cut above the rest.”
